  • 300g plain flour
  • pinch of salt
  • ½ tablespoon dried yeast
  • 1 tablespoon lukewarm water
  • 100ml lukewarm water approximately

Preheat the oven to a very hot 200C (400F/Mark 6)

Sift the flour with the salt into a medium sized bowl.  Mix the dried yeast with the tablespoon of lukewarm water.  Make a well in the centre of the flour mixture and pour in the yeast and the rest of the water.

Using your fingers mix the liquids together, gradually drawing in the flour. Continue mixing until all the flour has been incorporated.

On a lightly floured surface place the dough and knead for 10 minutes or until is smooth and pliable.

Using a sharp knife divide the dough in 6 equal pieces and shape each into a ball.

On a floured surface; roll out the balls of dough into circles about 4-5 cm in diameter and about 2cm thick.

Bake in very hot oven for 10 minutes.
