Spring and summer months are the best time to spend a vacation in Cyprus. Usually, tourists make sure to attend museums and other places of interest, eat in traditional restaurants, and spend some time leisuring at the beach. It’s not surprising, that most of them feel very tired by the end of the day! Nevertheless, we recommend not to hurry up to lay down in the hotel bed, but to give yourself another unforgettable Cyprus experience: to see sun rolling down in the sea or over a mountain, painting the world in tender colors. Where to watch the sunset on the island? We found 5 places with the most scenic sunset views and are willing to share them with our readers.

1

The Aphrodite's Rock

Petra tou Romiou is a sea stack in Pafos, most often referred to as Aphrodite's Rock. This is the place where, according to the old legend, the goddess of love first left the sea foam and stepped on the ground. Lots of people gather here to have a look at the picturesque rock flavoured by the beauty of the Greek mythology. You definitely have more chances to find fewer people here at sunset, when the place is the most beautiful regardless of the season. Another tip: photographs with Aphrodite's Rock turn out best in evening lighting. There is a cafe and a gift shop at the beach, and Paphos itself is full of tourist sites and attractions.

2

Mount Olympus peak

Since May until October, you can enjoy watching sunsets from the top of the Mount Olympus (1952 meters above the sea level). In winter it is a full-scale ski resort, and in summer the mount is worth climbing on at least because of the view: you can look around the whole island and over the Troodos. Undoubtedly, it is one of the best spots in Cyprus to watch all the diversity of sunset colors, shades, and overtones. It’s easy to get to the top of the Olympus from the Troodos village, which is, in turn, accessible by bus from Limassol. A ski-lift is not available during the summertime, but there is a nice hiking trail to the top.

3

Larnaca Salt Lake

Larnaca Salt Lake is one of the most scenic places in the region. In winter, when the lake fills with water, it becomes a winter base for 85 species of water-birds, including flamingos, the Eurasian Crane, and others. In summer all the water evaporates from the lake, and the birds are gone, but it is fun to walk along the lake’s salty sea bed. Sunsets here are enjoyable in any season. We also recommend taking a look at the 18th-century Ottoman aqueduct, Hala Sultan mosque, and the medieval basilica.

4

Cape Greco, the Lover’s Bridge

The Cape Greco national park is located in the most eastern part of the island and is well-known all over the world for the sky-blue color of the sea, graphic shapes of the rocks, hidden bays, and the breathtaking legends about the Ayia Napa sea monster. One of the most romantic (and the most photogenic) locations at Cavo Greco is a natural rocky arch, which is so popular among newly married couples that it was called the Lover’s Bridge. And being here at the sunset you really can’t help falling in love — with the nature of Cyprus, at least.

5

Paphos Promenade

To enjoy one of the best sunsets in life it is not necessary to get in the car and drive as far as possible from the big city lights. If you are in Cyprus, noisy and merry Paphos Promenade, spread along the shore not far from the Medieval Castle, is a perfect place to slow down and watch the ruby red sun slowly diving in the sea, marking the end of yet another wonderful day on the island.
